Hot damn, we on a jamboree

Wow, I can’t believe it’s raining this hard. I love you, Vancouver!
I’ve been working pretty damn ass hard (you know I mean business when I swear twice to emphasize an adjective) the past couple of weeks, doing my HTML/CSS/PHP/Javascript thing that I do. Besides being completely bogged down at work, things have been going pretty normally. Steady as she goes, and all that.

Outside of work (and sometimes during work), I’ve been indulging myself in all things camcorder. I finally made the call to get my broken battery holder piece replaced (I’d dropped my camcorder in the middle of the street in Florence, trying to get a nice symmetric shot of the Duomo), and it should be arriving tomorrow. Now I don’t have to hold my battery in place with my thumb anymore!
I’ve also been Ebaying like crazy– I recently purchased a $5 shoulder strap so I don’t do anything dumb like drop my camcorder in the middle of the street (sidenote: I can’t believe this is regularly priced at $30US!), and a wicked square lens hood to make my baby look more like a professional rig. The next items on the list include: MMC Hague stabilizer for smooth movements and a sweet Rode VideoMic so I can record things clearly… I’m a nerd.
On top of all the nerdy camcorder business, I’ve also been watching movies like a mother lately– in the past two weeks, I’ve seen Tropic Thunder, American Teen, Pineapple Express, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and Paranoid Park. I also just bought The Fountain, Coffee and Cigarettes, and The Darjeeling Limited to keep myself busy over the next few days. I’ll probably post up short reviews of each film in the coming week.

Last Saturday, a bunch of us (myself, Manuel, Ben, Nat, and Dom) attended Adda’s wedding, which was fun! It was my first wedding ever, so I was both excited and nervous as I didn’t really know what to expect (except what I had seen in various movies, such as 27 Dresses). Manuel, Ben and I were given the task of shooting the wedding, which is pretty daunting, but we did well (I hope). We had three cams in our possession (two standards and my HG10), so we were able to shoot multiple angles and such. Once I get Ben’s footy, and some free time, I’m going to start editing a nice little ditty for Adda and Gabriel (congrats!)… I hope the HD and standard video mix well together.
As far as the actual wedding, it was smaller than I expected, but still a lot of fun. Manuel and I arrived about an hour early to set up the cams, then Dom arrived, and then everyone else started pouring in. The bridesmaids looked neat in their yellow dresses, and the dudes was nice. The ceremony lasted a good hour and a bit, then we all headed to the reception for some wicked catered food (Ham! Lasagna! Pasta salad! Seafood-infused rice! Ice sculpture!) and the cutest little old man who acted as the night’s emcee (“Eesa nice!”). Overall, an enjoyable experience!.. And Adda and Gabe looked amazing! Can’t wait to see Dom’s photos!
