Long nights, part one
Tuesday, March 25th, 2008Last night was another nighter session at Ben’s house… but not really. I fell asleep at around 2am because I just plain didn’t want to work. Highlights below!

The day started with me going all the way to work, only to find out that there is no work on Easter Monday. Bummer, right? Whatever, it gave me the chance to get breakfast and troll around New West. After an hour of pooping around, I went to Benzino’s house and we did some light brainstorming with Ben’s awesome whiteboard (which is now installed onto his wall! Yey!). We came up with some pretty wack ass ideas- for instance, a packing service for weary travelers who don’t want to pack their own luggage, and a backpack with a vacuum in it that sucks the air out of the bag to make more room. Awesome, right?! Shieeett…

We tossed around a few more ideas, keeping our target audience’s needs in mind (convenience, safety, simplicity), which eventually led us to our finalized idea: an international transportation system translator that helps travelers figure out how to use metro systems all over the world! Nat came up with the sweet name: The Transvendor! (a play on “transportation,” “translation,” “vendor,” and “transgender”).

After a few hours of idea synthesizing, we moved on to production mode: creating our video scenario (avec green screen) and building our prototype. We ended up putting the screen (green table cloth from the dollar store) outside on Ben’s garage door to take advantage of the sunlight. The footage that we shot was poop, though, so we ended up taking photos of me and Photoshopping it into pictures of Japanese metro stations.

…And that was my outfit for the shoot- blue hood, blue 70L travelers backpack, big smiles! That bag was surprisingly incredibly comfortable- I can’t wait to lug that sucker around Italia!

The result! Super-realistico!! (Video coming soon!)
