Goodbye, SFU: 5.33 years in the making
December 15th, 2008Pa-rump, it’s done.
Last Thursday, I finished my final exam, the much-hated Kin. It turned out to be a lot easier than I expected it to be— Rod and I had prepared the day before by working on review questions, and what do you know, the exam ends up being 75% review questions! We came out of it feeling pretty good, which was awesome, and totally the way we wanted to go out.
Besides Kin, the Italia team finished the ‘08 site, which you can visit here: http://www.sfu.ca/italiadesign. It’s the most well-researched, well-thought out, comprehensive work I’ve ever been a part of, and the whole team and I are absolutely proud of the year’s worth of work we put into it. (Psst— check out the “Short Films” section and the “Production Wisdom” section for some fun!).
Lastly, as mentioned before, the LITZO Lamps went over nicely, and you can read about that here. Process video still to come!
And with that, I finish almost six years of being a student at SFU Surrey. What began as a misguided trip into what I thought was a game design degree in Fall 2003, to being stuck in web development territory during my “middle” years, to finally hitting my stride with interaction design in my last few years, ended with the same feelings I had when I first entered: cool. Now, I prepare to enter the “real world,” hustling my way to a position that will hopefully be fun and interesting…
But before that, let’s take a trip to the past, Fall 2003 to be precise… I’ve been working on my portfolio for the past week, and as I was sifting through my old works, I ran into this little ditty: Rod and I discussing our love for fast food! Enjoy.
